Nick graduated from the University of Toronto Faculty of Music in 2006.


He joined the faculty at Toronto’s Classical Music Conservatory in 2006 teaching private lessons on drum set, hand percussion, music theory, and songwriting. He founded their popular “Rock Band” program in 2008. In 2015, Nick joined the faculty at University Settlement Music & Arts School Toronto.


In 2015, Nick founded Palmerston Productions, a “one stop shop” for all things audio.


With over a decade of teaching experience, Nick is working on his first book: Universal Drumming; an instructional book for students and teachers that details his fresh, effective, and student-tested approach to learning the instrument.


2018 will see new music from two of his projects: RVNNERS, a brand new project born out Tiny Danza of will be releasing their self-titled debut EP iand Young Doctors In Love will be releasing their third full length album in the later part of the year.


Live performance will always be one of Nick's passions and he enjoys a busy freelance career playing drums with many local and national acts.


From 2006-2016, Nick was the drummer/co-writer/co-producer for Canadian indie band Tiny Danza. With this group, he has performed across Canada and Ireland and has recorded in Los Angeles with producer Jimmy Harry (P!NK, Shawn Mendes, Madonna). They were the winners of Indie Week 2011 and as a result were invited to perform at Indie Week in Dublin, Ireland in 2012. Between 2012-2014 they were signed to Wax Records/Universal Music and briefly changed their name to NIXON. He appears on their albums You Could Have It All (2011) and The TDEP (2009).


From 2005-2012 Nick was a member of Nagata Shachu a professional taiko ensemble based in Toronto. With this group, Nick travelled extensively giving performances and workshops all across North America. He appears on their albums Kiro (2005), Tsuzure (2008) and the 10th Anniversary Concert DVD (2009).


Born and raised in Toronto, Nick was immersed in the vibrant art and music culture of the city from an early age. His first instrument was piano but by age 10 he had discovered a love for playing the drums.


He received exceptional musical training at the Humber College Community Music School where he took private lessons and performed in a number of award winning jazz ensembles. From there he went on to attend the Etobicoke School of the Arts and ultimately graduate from the University of Toronto Faculty of Music with a B.Mus in Jazz Performance. While attending these two institutions he played in a myriad of groups including small jazz combos, jazz orchestras, symphony orchestras, vocal jazz ensembles, West African drumming ensembles, Indonesian Gamelan ensembles, traditional Chinese ensembles, Indian Tabla ensembles, and Japanese taiko ensembles.


He has studied with some the world’s finest musicians including: John Rudolph and Don Kuehn of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, Canada’s preeminent taiko soloist Kiyoshi Nagata, drummers Bob McLaren and Ted Warren, tabla virtuosos Pandit Sharda Sahai, Shawn Mativetsky, and Jim Kippen, and Members of the Order of Canada Phil Nimmons, Dave Young, and Terry Clarke.
